The Yeatman Brothers Story
The Beginning
Company directors Nick and Hoss grew up on the family farm at Lowcliffe. Durng the 1980’s the farming recession hit hard. Nick and Hoss returned to the family farm to assist in this difficult period. The farm required a lot of work to turn it around, with no funds available for remuneration to compensate this, Nick and Hoss began contracting on a part-time basis. Growth From small beginnings a significant milestone was in 1994 when YBL acquired a contract for spent grain from New Zealand Breweries in Christchurch. This contract got the company involved in the feed industry and increased awareness of quality feed as well as providing a great insight into the silage requirements of clients. |
More Services
In 2000 Yeatman Brothers Ltd purchased ‘Nigel Marcon Contracting’ and entered the earthmoving business. Often in the past cultivation for a conversion job was delayed because digging contractor had not arrived to take out the trees or divert waterways. Now YBL was able to properly plan and schedule work for clients wanting the most economic job done in the shortest time frame.
Today
As always YBL continues to be committed to providing top quality and service to its customers. Emphasis is placed on investing heavily in new technologies and training to facilitate this goal and see it as a viable alternative to a financially binding machinery replacement programme preferred by many competitors. Customers have now expanded from a rural base to include construction companies.
